The Umunthu Social Impact Forum is an annual cross-sector convening established by Thrive Afrika — a pan-Afrikan social impact advisory and ecosystem-building institution. The Forum brings together corporate leaders, government, civil society, philanthropy, academia, and impact investors to strengthen collaboration and social impact delivery in Malawi.
The 2026 edition was the Forum's second edition, themed 'Strengthening Malawi's Social Impact Ecosystem for a Resilient and Self-Sustaining Future.' It targeted 150 senior delegates and aimed to introduce the Umunthu Social Impact Index — Malawi's first ecosystem health measurement framework.
The Brief
Our Approach
1. Brand Strategy & Messaging
One of InspireX's most significant contributions to the project was developing the USIF 2026 Brand Messaging Guide — a living document that aligned all three partner organisations on tone, language, and communication standards across all touchpoints.
The guide established a clear distinction between FOMO-driven language — which cheapens a premium event — and prestige-driven messaging aligned with the positioning of world-class gatherings such as the World Economic Forum, Munich Security Conference, and Africa CEO Forum. This guide became the editorial standard for all content produced throughout the campaign.
"The Forum does not seek volume. It seeks consequence." — USIF 2026 Brand Messaging Guide, developed by InspireX
2. Website Design & Development
InspireX designed and developed the official USIF 2026 website — umunthuforum.org — which served as the central hub for all delegate and partnership activity throughout the campaign.
The website was announced with a dedicated launch campaign across all platforms, with InspireX positioning the launch as a demonstration of purposeful design — communicating clearly who would be in the room and why it mattered.
Social Media Marketing Campaign
InspireX led the social media marketing campaign across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for a twelve-week period, producing content across three phases:
Phase 1 — Education & Awareness (Weeks 1–3)
Content focused on educating target audiences around the Forum's themes: aid dependence, cross-sector collaboration, corporate social investment, and the post-aid development landscape. This phase established USIF 2026 as a thought leadership platform before any sales messaging was introduced.
Phase 2 — Sales & Conversion (Weeks 4–8)
Content shifted to direct sales — Early Bird ticket announcements, partnership package reveals, FAQ carousels walking audiences step-by-step through the registration and partnership process, and an end-of-Early-Bird campaign. All sales content was benchmarked against the brand messaging guide to maintain prestige positioning even during conversion-focused posts.
Phase 3 — Final Push & Pre-Event (Weeks 9–12)
Content focused on urgency, speaker and partner announcements, the Standard Bank x President Mutharika repost amplifying institutional credibility, and pre-event momentum building through Willson Chivhanga's MBC TV interview highlight.
On-Site Media & Production Coordination
During the two-day Forum, InspireX coordinated the on-site media and production operation, including:

Campaign Results & Analytics

What Made This Project Distinctive
USIF 2026 was not a standard event branding brief. It required InspireX to operate simultaneously as a brand strategist, content creator, digital platform builder, social media campaign manager, and on-site production coordinator — across a twelve-week campaign period for a premium, high-stakes national convening.
The development of the USIF Brand Messaging Guide stands as a particularly strong example of InspireX's strategic value beyond design. By naming the difference between FOMO-driven and prestige-driven communication — and building a reference document that all three partner organisations could use consistently — InspireX elevated the entire campaign's quality and coherence.
The FAQ carousel series — directly informed by real sales intelligence gathered from prospect conversations with NBS Bank and Standard Bank demonstrated InspireX's ability to connect market insight to content strategy in real time.
InspireX's contribution to USIF 2026 was not decoration. It was architecture. From the brand language to the website to the campaign strategy — we built the communication infrastructure that the Forum stood on.
